Vision

The term vision is c. 1300, "something seen in the imagination or in the supernatural," from Anglo-French visioun, Old French vision "presence, sight; view, look, appearance; dream, supernatural sight" (12c.), from Latin visionem (nominative visio) "act of seeing, sight, thing seen."

Vision statements look to the future and are meant to inspire and give direction to employees of the company rather than customers. A business should determine where its vision statement will appear and what role it will serve in the organization. Communicate a vision statement instead of having a vision sit in a binder on a shelf.
