The term prevent is from early 15c., "act in anticipation of," from Latin praeventus, past participle of praevenire "come before, anticipate, hinder," in Late Latin also "to prevent," from prae "before" (see pre-) + venire "to come." Design thinking and problem solving can begin with prevention. For example, how do we encourage children to eat healthier foods? How do we encourage healthier behaviors? Design thinkers have become adept at approaching important social issues by looking at individual motivation and behavior. In other words, how do educate people on healthier behaviors? How do we educate people on changing products? In order to produce 21st century learners, we cannot use 18th century methods.
