The term surplus is from the late 14c., from Old French sorplus "remainder, extra" (12c., Modern French surplus), from Medieval Latin superplus "excess, surplus," from Latin super "over" (see super-) + plus "more." Surpluses are hard to find these days. Not much extra of anything. Planning is important. Thinking analytically will save the day. A surplus is good to have of items critical to life. Unfortunately, we have a surplus of items people do not need. Satisfy needs over wants and the world is better.
