The term logos is from the 1580s, "the divine Word, second person of the Christian Trinity," from Greek logos "word, speech, statement, discourse," also "computation, account," also "reason."

Using logos in writing would be to cite facts and statistics, historical and literal analogies, and citing certain authorities on a subject. Logos is the Greek word for “word,” however logos can be most closely described as “the word or that by which the inward thought is expressed" and, "the inward thought itself." Logos uses evidence, testimony, data, and universal truths to create a message.
