Iteration is a saying or doing again, or over and over again; repeated utterance or occurrence, from late 15c., from Latin iterationem (nominative iteratio) "a repetition," noun of action from past-participle stem of iterare "do again, repeat," from iterum "again."

Iterative design is a cyclic process of prototyping, testing, analyzing, and refining a product and/or process. As companies use prototypes to move products forward it is important to iterate the prototype as fast as possible to achieve the best customer experience. Iteration design enables rapid resolution of misunderstandings within the project team. User feedback helps with client relationships to show the evolution of a design rather than “dumping” a finished product on them. Iterations also incorporate “lessons learned” in the final product. Again and again.
