Fintech

Fintech is short for financial technology. The term finance originated c. 1400, "an end, settlement, retribution," from Old French finance "end, ending; pardon, remission; payment, expense; settlement of a debt" (13c.), noun of action from finer "to end, settle a dispute or debt," from fin (see fine (n.)). Compare Medieval Latin finis "a payment in settlement, fine or tax."

Fintech emerged in the 21st century with an objective to automate financial services. The beauty of fintech are the innovations throughout the supply chain. Fintech innovations revolve around the "F" in the supply chain of "GFI," goods, funds, and information. The innovations in fintech are customer-centric and built for the digital world. The older financial institutions must move fast to compete in the fintech era. The innovations in goods and information are well known. The innovations in finance are where the money is located.
