The term vote originated in mid-15c., "formal expression of one's wish or choice with regard to a proposal, candidate, etc.," from Latin votum "a vow, wish, promise to a god, solemn pledge, dedication," noun use of neuter of votus, past participle of vovere "to promise, dedicate."

Estonia uses e-voting for all elections. Emerging technologies have enabled e-voting to become digitized. Trust and security are paramount in elections because voters must know their vote counts and is counted correctly. AI and blockchain are becoming key components of e-voting and decision making in general. Good cyber hygiene is also important to ensure the ecosystem is sound and the votes are not being hacked. I wonder when e-voting will come to the US.
