The term risk is from the 1660s, risque, from French risque (16c.), from Italian risco, riscio (modern rischio), from riscare "run into danger," of uncertain origin. The English spelling first recorded 1728. Spanish riesgo and German Risiko are Italian loan-words.

A business continuity strategy is important for all businesses. Assess the five categories of risk; environmental, economic, geopolitical, technological, and societal. Decide where business is at risk and design a plan of action to correct gaps. Optimize inventory and transportation. Digitize and automate when possible. Mitigate risk.
