Offer

The term offer is from the early 15c., offre, "a proposal presented for acceptance or rejection," from Old French ofre "act of offering; offer, proposition" (12c.), verbal noun from offrir "to offer," from Latin offerre "to present, bestow, bring before."

An offer is binary. The answer to your offer is yes or no. What happens when your offer is rejected? Do you hide behind a tree and hope your client reconsiders? Do you learn from the rejection and make another offer? Do you compromise? Did you set a high target? Never split the difference.
