The term muse is from the late 14c., "one of the nine Muses of classical mythology," daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, protectors of the arts; from Old French Muse and directly from Latin Musa, from Greek Mousa, "the Muse," also "music, song."
A muse is personal to the creativity process. What is your muse? Nature is my muse. Nature offers many ways to become creative. Walk outside and look at the sky. What do you see? Nothing on a clear blue day? There is always something hiding in nothing. Create and innovate. Ideas are the currency of the future.
