Origin 1782, "arrange in a class or classes, arrange according to common characteristics," from French classifier, from French classe (14c.), from Latin classis "a class, a division; army, fleet," especially "any one of the six orders into which Servius Tullius divided the Roman people for the purpose of taxation;" Classifying data is the core capability of AI to convert unstructure data into structured data so data can be analyzed in specific ways. Machine learning classifications are broadening. The new classifications of machine learning are; DaaS (Data as a Service), MaaS (Model as a Service), and RaaS (Robot as a Service.) DaaS are companies that aggregate large amounts and data and then use AI to create new contexts. The social media space is an example of DaaS. MaaS contains subsets of companies that include; Narrow AI, value extractors, and enablers. Narrow AI uses very specific algorithms to solve problems. Value extractors use AI to extract value and insights from data. Enablers let the end user use data through platforms or applications. RaaS are the virtual and physical agents that you think about when thinking about AI, chatbots, drones, and robots. The race is on to classify the data and then monetize the data. Begin to think about how to classify the data you use to create a new paradigm.
