Characteristics

Characteristics is an adjective ("pertaining to or indicating character") and noun ("a distinctive trait; that which gives or indicates character") both first attested 1660s, from character + -istic on model of Greek kharaktēristikos.

It is important to understand the characteristics of a counterpart in negotiations. To determine the most effective negotiation strategy one must research and pay close attention to his or her characteristics. Some interesting characteristics of the counterpart include; creativity, big picture thinking, trustworthiness, respect, and responsibility. Keep "strategy focused" and "people focused."
