Capital

The term capital is from the 1610s, "a person's wealth," from Medieval Latin capitale "stock, property," noun use of neuter of Latin capitalis "capital, chief, first" (see capital (adj.)).

Capital is an important part of the supply chain equation, SCO=(G+F+I)*O. Supply chains run smoothly when goods, funds, and information are optimized for both the seller and the buyer. Capital can solve many problems in the supply chain. The problem with capital is spending too much to solve a problem solved better with creativity and more information. ROIC is a good metric to track for capital expenditures. Perfection is not the answer because perfection breeds procrastination.
